I saw this film in the theaters and was very disappointed that it was not a major hit; although I reflect I know why. This is definitely a character and dialogue-driven historical drama. Not your run-of-the-mill mind-blowing blockbuster type of film! I absorb this film will play very nicely in DVD or video obtain where it's aloof drama will play itself better.

I was VERY disappointed that Bruce Greenwood was not nominated for an academy award (there were rumors this may happen) because I hold his performance was as noble if not better than the men that were nominated. His JFK was, in my humble conception, perfect. I found this film compelling, well written, and dramatic. I especially enjoyed the scenes where Kenny O'Donnell (K. Costner) went to church and went to seek his son play ball. Can you honest imagine what you would feel if you idea the kill of the world may happen?

As I watched this movie, I notion it was a shame that the movie-going generation of today did not remove the time to peruse it. To them, this is history of long ago; to many others, it is a lesson worth watching and remembering.

I remember studying the Cuban Missile Crisis in college, in a class on group dynamics and groupthink. It is such a remarkably racy event, I was a bit afraid going into the film, as Hollywood often manages to suck the life out of inherently thrilling stories. Luckily, they gain this one just. While it is not historically honest, I didn't care, because the chronicle this film tells preserves the essence of the event, the tension in the White House as two superpowers danced at the edge of World War III, and the type of individual heroism and leadership it probably took to achieve us from ourselves.

The record is told from the perspective of Kenny O'Donnell (Kevin Costner), given an inflated role as the advisor to President Kennedy and confidant of both John and Bobby. Telling the fable from his perspective is a superb one, as it allows us to understanding John and Bobby as the larger than life heroes they were. Costner's faux Bostonian accent is so lousy as to cause hysterical laughter from my friends and I as the film started, but thankfully Bruce Greenwood and Steven Culp outshine him with remarkably charismatic portrayals of John and Bobby. I wasn't alive when Kennedy was president, but after watching Greenwood's performance I can understand why so many witness to Kennedy as our last substantial president. Surrounded by military chiefs of staff rabid to go to war with the Russians, the Kennedy's and O'Donnell get the courage to follow their better judgment and inspire enough decent men around them to steer both sides to a tranquil resolution. This is filmmaking about the clash of strong personalities in a group setting, like Twelve Furious Men, or Glengarry Glen Ross, or Fail Advantageous. I glean the subject lively.

A few other minor quibbles: occasionally the film switches to dusky and white, ostensibly to heighten the sense of historical accuracy, but it impartial looked like we were watching a studio screener copy of the film to me. That could have been left out. Also, occasionally the director Roger Donaldson inserts scenes with O'Donnell hanging out with his family, brooding over their well-being, with head in hand and furrowed brow. They feel like attempts to conjure up some of the tension that accepted American families felt during the event, but Costner no longer has the dramatic presence to pull them off, and I would have preferred Donaldson narrow his focus to quit within the confines of the White House.

But those are minor quibbles. Dylan Baker plays Defense Secretary Robert McNamara wonderfully, and it's astonishing how powerful Culp and Baker resemble Bobby Kennedy and McNamara. I left the film wishing that presidential candidates like George Bush or Al Gore had half the charisma of Greenwood's JFK. Ah, but isn't that always the case with presidents in the movies? If you score yourself fascinated by the Cuban Missile Crisis after watching the film, take up the book from which some of the film's events were pulled, "The Kennedy Tapes: Inside the White House During the Cuban Missile Crisis." It provides a more historically fair and unprejudiced as compelling examination of the event.

"Tammy and the Bachelor" is the best of the "Tammy" series, with incredible and very titillating performances by its stellar cast, including the energetic Debbie Reynolds, who not only entertains the viewer with her role as the backwoods Tammy Tyree, but also actually becomes her! Debbie Reynolds also had significant success with the movie's theme song, "Tammy" (better known as "Tammy's in Care For) ." One of the most memorable scenes to me is of Tammy performing as a Southern lady tour guide and gives a unbelievable and sentimental performance that you won't forget! Also essential is Fay Wray as Pete's mother, Mrs. Brent and Mildred Natwick as the eccentric Aunt Renie, artist and cat lover extrodinaire! "Tammy and the Bachelor" is followed by three sequels, with Sandra Dee taking on the piece of Tammy Tyree in "Tammy, Allege Me Proper" and "Tammy and the Doctor," and then Debbie Watson as Tammy Tarleton in 1967's "Tammy and the Millionaire," which is sadly missing from this region. Though all three movies included her in this region are palatable and spellbinding in their contain arrangement, "Tammy and the Bachelor" is a proper classic movie gem and should not be missed! "Tammy and the Bachelor" (1957)

The Dean of Women, Miss Jenks (played by Virginia Grey, a friend of producer Hunter) recognizes Tammy's innate humanity and welcomes her to sit in on classes in novel events and public speaking. The latter is taught by instructor Tom Freeman. He and Tammy met earlier in the day by a tree in the park.

Tammy is also sent to be a companion to Mrs. Annie Call (Beulah Bondi) . Mrs. Call is a bitter, mean broken-down woman - as she says herself. Her niece misunderstands Tammy's background and sends her away. When Tammy sneaks wait on into the backyard and has a heart to heart talk with her, Mrs. Call hatches a conception. She runs away to the Effie B to relive her childhood times of life on the river.

There are complications. Tammy isn't well-liked by the others in school, she gets a couple of babysitting jobs, and she is even eventually accused of kidnapping and robbery. Don't misfortune it all works out in the extinguish.

She creates several comical incidents, but she is always place befriend to mopping floors (this gag wears out its welcome after the fourth time) . She becomes enamored of a young intern (Fonda) and decides she doesn't esteem Tom Warren (Gavin) after all and sets her cap for young Dr. Impress Cheswick. Tammy is nothing if not fickle.

The supporting cast again is obliging with MacDonald Carey (unsightly as he is), Margaret Lindsey, Alice Pearce (the fresh "Bewtiched" Gladys Kravitz), Reginald Owen, and Adam West (fair before becoming Batman on television) . Although I have nothing against porn, I've never really been into it either; so when my boyfriend brought this movie home for us to inspect, I wasn't enthusiastic. However, he insisted that it was recommended as being "very humorous" so I finally caved and agreed to gawk with him. I am so pleased that I did cave.

Within ten minutes, I was crooked. Evan Stone (the lead male) carries the movie out of ridiculous porno dialogue and into correct comedy. His humor is cheeky and risque without being ribald. Steven St. Croix also does a improbable job of portraying a parody of a macho male--chauvinistic one diminutive and crying in fetal plot the next.

Of the female actresses, Shay Jordan made me giggle with her over-the-top antics, and Katsuni gave a performance that I could have sworn was by a Hollywood actress. Jesse Jane (the leading lady) played her fraction with tongue-in-cheek awareness, which I appreciated. And if nothing else, the women in this movie are astronomically hot.

After seeing this, I purchased the rated X version, which is even funnier. This movie helped me inaugurate up a current genre of entertainment, and I hope that Digital Playground continues to attach out Blockbuster adult movies like this one.
Let's face it, the odds are, if you're going to be watching a movie like this with actors like these, you're probably in the mood for some sort of raunchy fun. Rated R? Radiant this was originally released as an X Rated adult movie, I was surprised to behold it on Amazon -- until I saw the rating. I had to write a review and a recommendation.

The movies, "Pirates" and "Stagnetti's Revenge" are actually very well done in a very tongue in cheek manner. As grand as you'll gape for Adult movies. My wife and I watched the first one on BluRay and were very entertained and laughed quite a bit as the movie rolled on. We (eventually) made it to the waste fair to literally observe how the outcome. Pardon the pun.

If you're looking for the X rated version, go to a area called DVDEMPIRE (dot com) and order it. The BluRay versions are well worth the ~$[...].

The actors, scenes and quality and clarity of the video are very hot, very amusing and thoroughly interesting. Luxuriate In!

I saw this film on the tall mask and it was quite an experience. I went in thinking it was going to be some dumb 1960's dismal and white film.

This movie is absolutely hilarious. It's lighthearted and humorous for most of the movie and the lead character really drives the sage. He wants his wife and two daughters, his novel Italian family in Milan, to study his hometown in Sicily -- his "roots."

The lead character remembers his beloved Sicily as an idyllic countryside with respectable people, obedient food, and helpful times. However, now that he is a grown man, upon his arrival, determined parties are involved in what he can do for them. The events that follow are what beget for very expedient movie watching. You unprejudiced never know where its going to go.

This movie is in Italian, so it has subtitles. Don't let that discourage you from watching this. The expressions on the people's faces are all you need.

You'll never scrutinize at The Godfather or any mob movie the same diagram again.

Brilliantly directed and acted - amongst the top tier of films ever created.

This is an exceptional DVD transfer of an exceptional movie. Criterion has done a lovely job of restoring Charade to its bright glory. The film is presented in its recent 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The print is determined, crisp, and heavenly to look. You feel as if you can near out and touch the actors.

And what actors! The film features the dashing older version of Cary Grant and the youthful gamine Audrey Hepburn, with enough chemistry between them to ignite a fireworks factory. The location is a convoluted and flimsy trifle about cool war peek shenanigans, with cases of inaccurate identity and episodes of grave pain for Miss Audrey. But Cary, the classic great guy in cad's clothing, is there to build the day. In addition to which he provides chaste romance that sizzles beneath the civility.

Audio commentary is provided by director Stanley Donen and screenwriter Peter Stone. While inspiring and comical in spots, it does pace a bit over the length of the film. It may be better to check it out when you derive something in the film that you would like to hear dissected. Otherwise, you'd be better to stick with the enjoyable, corny dialogue spoken in the dulcet tones of Cary and Audrey. The soundtrack music is to also to be savored, done up in classic '60s gape movie style by the movie maestro Henry Mancini.

If you have nothing to do on a rainy day and enjoy a DVD player, this is the movie you want to have on hand to pop in the machine and sigh you from care. It's a keeper (and it comes in a keeper case!) .

I got this DVD for Christmas and I wasn't disappointed. Stanley Donen, director of musicals such as "Singin' In The Rain" starring Gene Kelly, brought together Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn (who looks sparkling, as always) in this wonderfully-written anecdote about a Parisian widow (Hepburn) who is being pursued by three unsafe men (two of which are played by George Kennedy - an pleasant "heavy" - and James Coburn at his most menacing) who want to come by out about a titanic sum of money her stupid husband supposedly had. Grant is the obliging stranger but eventually you initiate to wonder: is he working with these men? Does he want the money for himself? Or is he really the fine, older man Audrey finds herself falling in treasure with?

Enhanced by a lush accept by the unhurried Henry Mancini, photographed beautifully in Paris and containing honorable acting and deliciously despicable dialogue by writer Peter Stone, "Charade" is a film that should be in every serious DVD collection. Grant is older but better, like pleasing wine, and Ms. Hepburn ... well there have been millions of words former to narrate her and I can't add to them other than to say the world lost a helpful talent at her death.

For those of us who long for the DVD Collector's Series of "Fury" (the memoir of a horse and the boy who loved him), this situation will have to do for now.

The artwork is legal to the series with the familiar shot of Bobby Diamond posing with "Fury" (from a later season of the point to) and this is a sweet limited collectible.

Unfortunately, this position appears to be an archaic video of an worn film transferred to DVD. Fortunately, for fans of the present, the quality is not unlike the television quality a child sitting down to search for reruns of "Fury" in the 1960's would have seen.

I saw "Fury" reruns in the tedious 1960's and the early 1970's on KTVI-TV, Channel 2, in St. Louis, Missouri at 7:15 a.m. weekdays where it ran for many years after "The Lone Ranger" at 6:45 a.m.

This series originally ran five seasons on NBC (1955-60) and was so hugely approved it ran another six years in reruns on NBC followed by years of syndicated reruns before it disappeared along with most other black-and-white rerun series during American television's irregular 1970's obsession with all-color programming.
Bobby Diamond grounded the point to with his infectious appreciate for "Fury" and was an apparently well-behaved actor who worked well with potential indicate rival kid characters "Pee Wee" and later "Packy" who no doubt came in as the series progressed to give very young viewers someone to portray to as "Joey" weak into adolescence.
The cast was uniformly marvelous and the writing fun and always scrumptious.
The episode "The Tornado" (not on this residence) is downright gripping and the same is honest of many of the series highlights.
Unlike many TV shows for kids, "Fury" always seemed to avoid the traps of oddball camp, excessive sentiment, cartoon violence and, most necessary, avoided uninteresting stories throughout the bustle.
"Fury" extolled masculine pursuits and male role models.
"Fury" himself was certainly symbolic of Joey's inner healthy pride and strength as both "Fury" and Joey made a lumber from lost orphans to positions of strength and happiness.
With the coming of DVD series collections, we can hope that "Fury" will one day be available on an extensive collection on DVD (it will no doubt be a mountainous hit) .
The series grew up and developed through the urge and if anyone could gape all of the episodes in succession, "Fury" would be assured legions of unique fans.
"Fury" could and should be remembered as one of the best and brightest American Television shows ever produced for children (and adults) .

First of all, "hats off" to Alpha Video for bringing this series to DVD. For most of us "baby boomers" who fondly remember "Fury", this is like finding buried cherish. I can only hope that the rest of the episodes will eventually be released. The video transfer is agreeable, considering this series will price it's 50th anniversary in October (2005) . There is a video "glitch" in the second episode and some lines in the fourth episode, but this could be an age factor, however it's acceptable. Frail actor, Denver Pyle ("Dukes Of Hazzard"), appears in the second episode. In the fourth episode, Ken Osmond, (two years before he made Eddie Haskell a household name), makes one of his first appearances in front of the camera. For the brand and memories..it's a winner!..and you won't have to go through the trauma of looking at an conventional TV test pattern before it comes on,... like some of us did so long ago on Saturday mornings.

I remember seeing THEATRE OF BLOOD aid in 1992 on Halloween of all days. I saw the second half of it and it handsome considerable troubled me and tremulous my nightmares. THEATRE OF BLOOD is the ultimate wish-fulfillment movie for anybody in the movie industry or theatre that has ever had scathing reviews levied against them. Edward Lionheart is a Shakespearian actor who employs death scenes from the Bard in his vengeance against nine critics who have been really harsh on him to say the least. This movie is DR. PHIBES with a theatrical element in lieu of the Biblical plague thing, but on its contain, it's very sterling. The highlight is the salon electricution, especially seeing Designate disguised as Butch! The grand music gather is a precursor to what Pino Donaggio would do for Brian DePalma! And there's a gigantic punchline!

MADHOUSE has Note as a anxiety movie actor doing a TV movie and getting stuck in the middle of a killing spree. Plus, there's Count Yorga as a producer and Peter Cushing as a director! Ahh, Vincent Stamp the world would have been monotonous without his humorous delivery. One of the finest moments is a fencing scene where the two opponents face off on the floor, on a trampoline and various gym equipment. It's quite well staged and spirited.

"Madhouse" the flipside of this twofer is a lesser film but features a stellar cast. The predictable set focuses on an actor Paul Toombes (Note again naturally) who returns to acting after suffering a nervous breakdown as a result of his the cancel of his fiance. Twelve years have passed and now Toombes returns to acting only to score that those around him are now being murdered! Toombes wonders if he is the cause of it all or if someone is out to incriminate him. The edifying cast of Effect, Peter Cushing ("Fright of Dracula", "Curse of Frankenstein", "Star Wars", "She") Robert Quarry ("Count Yorga Vampire", "Dr. Phibes Rises Again") makes the film memorable. Director James Clark (editor of "Vera Drake", "Copycat", "The World is Not Enough") does a stylish job with the predictable screenplay by Ken Levison and Greg Morrison. It's a blast to survey Cushing, Stamp and Quarry together (along with archieval footage of Boris Karloff) . A pity there was no blueprint to fit Christopher Lee into the mix (he was busy shooting "The Man with the Golden Gun" and "The Wicker Man") .

As usual the transfer inspect fair expedient given the age of the negatives although "Theater of Blood" looks a bit washed out. Then again, it's always looked like that as long as I can remember. A pity that Clark wasn't asked to do a commentary track. It's one of only three or four movies he directed. The tedious Hickox who directed "Theater of Blood" primarily directed mini-series for TV after the film. The first film deserves a strong four stars while "Madhouse" deserves 2 1/2 for worry and performances. Theatrical trailers for both films are included.

The product description actually hits every aspect of what this film is about, so that left performances and product quality for me. From the opening scene of Kiera Knightley singing (BEAUTIFULLY in her maintain say and with the first of many facial close-ups) I was twisted.

The describe clarity and DTS were the best I have seen and heard for a movie of this theme/topic. Everything about the techinical aspects of the film was excellent. I kept trying to come by fault, even with the night shots and the sad almost shaded and white London sequences, but nothing would falter. The DTS was mixed perfectly throughout, even in the rain sequences and the remote bombings. Which, if you have your system cranked up thinking this is a dialogue film only, at around 16:20 you will slay up blown over backwards, and that happens several times.

The main featurette is also 1080 and lasts nine minutes. It is mostly footage from the film as narrated by the main cast and director (except Cillian) . Once you scrutinize the humor enthusiastic in the background of the film it can prep you for the outtakes. I understanding this option would be misplaced for as serious as this film is, but after watching the four slight quip (mixed as a music video almost) it was actually perfect. It showed the disgust of everyone having to chain smoke through the whole film. And Kiera with as fine as she is here in every moment of film, is captured saying the F word in only the diagram she can.

I feel comfortable in saying no one should salvage disappointment in any aspect of this production, anecdote, poetry, Blu quality, sound mix, or even the brief special features. I have played several sequences of Kiera singing for customers, and the Blu clarity has sold itself on those scenes alone.

EDIT: I have noticed there are a slew of haters out there with this film that try to secure everything unsuitable with it. Kiera's mother wrote this share and I deem she made it believable being that these characters are based on a "bohemian" lifestyle. Kiera's singing sounded astounding, contrary to some critics thinking it stunk. In summary, I do not deem this film deserves all of the slander. Hope you indulge in it.
Stylish is its stock in trade. Slicker than usual and done well as a visual and aural feast with a graphic examine that comes stop to Frank Miller films. And while I'm mentioning names; Dennis Potter, Ken Russsell and David Lean, all came to mind when watching this film. It's not perfect but it's perfectly appealing. Blu-ray is out of peek, sounds are subtle between noteworthy moments, like songs or explosions and discussions. This is something else. You will have a novel point to off item. I replayed it immediately.

We Three Stooges fans will be looking forward to another immense collection of adventures of Moe and Curly Howard and Larry Exquisite. This residence is an even two dozen instead of fair 19 shorts like the first area contained. In GRIPS,GRUNTS & GROANS,Curly(dependable name Jerome Lester Horwitz) is elected to sub for an ill wrestler who bears physical resemblance to Curly. In DIZZY DOCTORS,the boys are ordered by their wives to go to work instead of unprejudiced eating and sleeping all the time. They sell a potion called Brighto which they reflect is an all-purpose cleaner but is actually an internal medicine. In GOOFS AND SADDLES,the boys are out west and Curly is playing cards with a few other guys(not Moe or Larry) . In Benefit TO THE WOODS,the boys are pilgrims hunting for food. In THREE Slow CLUCKS,The boys,in jail,receive a effect from their mother saying the boys' father has divorced her and is engaged to a younger woman(Curly plays a dual role in this film as himself and the father) . The boys do all they can to prevent the wedding from taking site,and Daisy,the father's fiancee,accidentally marries Curly! Clyde Bruckman's script for this film was later recycled for the 1953 remake UP IN DAISY'S PENTHOUSE with Moe's and Curly's brother Shemp playing the dual role. In CASH AND CARRY,the boys ransack garbage in a landfill and ogle $62 in a tin can that actually belong to a physically disabled boy and his mother(they are collecting $500 for the boy's operation for Jimmy,the boy,to lope freely again) . The boys pay a pair of crooks they meet,$200 for the privilege of digging up a hidden cherish. It turns out the boys accidentally broke into the U.S. Treasury,which is felonious and results in life inprisonment. Since the act was unintentional,the boys were pardoned by President Theodore Roosevelt(he served in 1937) . In PLAYING THE PONIES,the boys sell their restaurant to go into horse racing after learning in a newspaper that a horse-race driver received ten mountainous for winning a rush. A piquant snack called Pepperinos made the boys' pet horse(driven by Larry) posthaste bustle and acquire. In THE SITTER DOWNERS,the Stooges effect a home for their novel wives as well as themselves. In THREE MISSING LINKS,the boys are janitors who are fired and hired for supporting an actress in a movie. In MUTTS TO YOU,the boys are dog-bathers who spy an unattended baby who they establish in their care until his parents reclaim him. In THREE Itsy-bitsy SEW AND SEWS,the boys are tailor shop attendants as well as navymen. Curly poses as an admiral after the trusty admiral's suit shows up at the shop. FLAT FOOT STOOGES has the boys again as firemen(first exhaust of the children's song THREE BLIND MICE which became the signature theme thru the last of the short series) . The sick dog's owner was so vexed after learning of the dog's kidnapping. But Garcon(gar sone),the dog,is found,alive and well,in parenthood with his mate and their litter. In OILY TO BED OILY TO RISE,the boys succeed in saving a woman's property. She sold it and later regretted it. A trio of crooks were about to have the deed recorded,and the boys swindle it away from them in time so the recording would never happen. Curly,a wishing wizard,has all his wishes granted. Cigars,apple pie,meeting three ravishing girls(the woman's daughters named April,Mae and June) and marrying them! This was later remade with Joe Besser as OIL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL in 1957. In THREE SAPPY PEOPLE,the boys are switchboard operators who abet a dismal tie birthday party. The birthday woman,who is relentlessly gay and laughing,is believed by her husband to have a mental disorder. So the boys,as psychiatrists,gawk the woman over. She loves Curly's silliness as well. I dedicate this item to the memories of Moe(1897-1975),Larry(1902-1975) and Curly(1903-1952)

It seems that everyone from Jay Leno to University of Arizona Professor Jon Solomon have chimed in on the subject. Essays, numerous books and college lectures have addressed the topic. There are two sure classes of people. Those that adore the classic comedy team and others who scratch their head and wonder why.

During their impressive career, The Three Stooges made 190 short subjects for Columbia Pictures. Add to that their 6 fleshy length features; film cameos; television appearances and 156 cartoons with live wraparounds and their output is staggering.

With last year's Three Stooges Collection Volume One 1934-1936, Sony/Columbia Pictures finally began releasing the Stooges' crown jeweled two-reelers fully restored and in chronological order.
Fans rejoiced! Naysayers found something else to gather angry about.

There is worthy news in Stoogeville as Sony's second volume of restored shorts hits the street on May 27. The Three Stooges Collection Volume Two: 1937-1939 contains 24 titles presented in their unique release order.

Each short in this compilation has been digitally remastered and the soundtrack has been fully restored. Never before have these 70+ year feeble films looked or sounded so edifying. Gone is each pop, scratch, insist, splice and wobbly frame. The disagreement has been lovingly corrected. Granted, there are times when the portray fluctuates in incompatibility (when the camera is sped up to do images depart faster), but that was shrimp to the technology for the time.

Most importantly, it shows the team at their peak. Moe, Larry and Curly were never more vigorous than during this period. While there are a few shorts that miss their stamp here, many are high energy romps. The fact that numerous directors were in and out of the mix during this era didn't wound the series.

Here's a blow by blow (no pun intended) analysis for the shorts included on Volume 2:

"Grips, Grunts and Groans" (****) opens the station and previous VHS and DVD releases were grainy and terribly black in disagreement. The soundtrack
was flat and there was no bass on it, giving it the sound of an AM
transistor radio. It's one of the best shorts on the station and shows
just how far the pacing had approach along since many of the shorts
that it preceded. If you ever wondered where they got the opinion for the
world of WWF wrestling, witness no further. After Larry and Curly brain
prize fighter Ivan Bustoff (played to perfection by Harrison Greene), with a plot of dumbells and a falling locker, the boys substitute Curly to wrestle in his dwelling. With the befriend of Wild Hyacinth perfume, Curly becomes a force to be reckoned with. CLASSIC LINE: "Wait a small. If I'm
gonna procure beat up, I want to come by paid for it."

"Dizzy Doctors" (***) This fan celebrated has the Boys selling Brighto.
Naturally, they don't know it's medicine and peddle the stuff from
car polish to region remover. When they eye Brighto's proper
use, they invade Los Arms Hospital and urge amuck trying to cure
assorted patients. CLASSIC LINE: "You boys really want to know
what it's for? It's for sale, now catch busy selling it."

"Three Boring Clucks" (***) is a mammoth view that could have been executed
better. The premise is promising: the Boys have to shatter out of jail to
stop their father (played by Curly in a dual role) from marrying some
golddigger and return him to 'Ma'. The short suffers from pacing problems
that hold it from becoming a legal classic. CLASSIC SCENES: The
hat fitting and elevator/hallway slide.

"Wait On To The Woods" (**1/2) suffers from wearisome pacing and too many
scenes that weigh it down. It does have it's highlights, but they are too
few and thus is one of the weaker titles in the cannon. The Stooges are
sent to aid the colonies against Indian attacks. CLASSIC LINE:
"All my life I've been looking for a maid like thee, toots!"

"Goofs and Saddles" (***1/2) The Stooges are Wild Bill Hiccup, Buffalo Billious and Objective Insensible Bill in hot pusuit of Longhorn Pete in this western parody. The Boys made several western themed shorts, with this entry being one of the standouts. CLASSIC LINES: "You got your special deck of cards? ""Soitinly". "We won't need 'em." CLASSIC SCENE: Passing cards under the table with their feet.

"Cash and Carry" (***) While pathos worked better for Chaplin, there's plenty of gags and speedily dialog to fabricate up for the corny Jimmy and his illness subplot. The Stooges invest Jimmy's leg operation money in a diagram that leads to finding "buried teasure" in a house (conveniently located next to the US Treasury Building) . CLASSIC LINE: "$500, hmm, that's almost a million."

"Playing the Ponies" (***1/2) Down and out restauranteurs Moe, Larry and Curly trade their business for Thunderbolt and enter him in a run. Curly discovers that the nag runs snappy after eating the hot peppers he swiped from the eatery. CLASSIC LINE: "Adam and Eve on a raft." "Hey, shuffle those eggs." "Shatter 'em."

"The Sitter Downers" (****) This classic has it all. Mountainous gags, elegant pacing and a solid storyline. The Stooges go on strike and camp out in their fiancees' home, mighty to the fright of their father. The nation sympathizes and gifts near pouring in. When their ready made house has to be assembled, the wives lay down the law: no honeymoon until the house is built. CLASSIC SCENE: Moe and Larry's tear sequence.

"Termites Of 1938" (****) In a mix up, Mrs. Vantwitchet hires the ACME Exterminators instead of ACME Escorts. Thinking they are hired to rid pests at an upscale party, the Stooges wreak havoc on the guests and the posh home. CLASSIC LINE: "I wish to hire your best men." "We're all pest men."

'Wee Wee Monsieur" (***1/2) Leisurely on their rent, Curly hopes to sell his painting, but when he clobbers the landlord over the head with it during an argument, the Boys are on the race and brand up for the Foreign Legion (thinking it's the American version) . Recruited to guard General Gorganzola, he is kidnapped under their perceive. They need to bring him aid alive or it's cutains for the Stooges. CLASSIC SCENE: The Stooges
dressed as dancing harum girls.

"Tassels In The Air" (****) One of my favorites! Hired as janitors, the Stooges pick up in a pickle by stenciling the unsuitable office door titles. Moe is wrong for Omay, a eminent interior decorator. The Curly goes bananas theme (pop goes the weasel; seeing mice; Wild Hyacinth perfume) is reworked when he sees tassels (he was cheerful with a pussy willow as a child) . The pig Latin bit is priceless! CLASSIC LINE: "You mean I'm umday in pig language? " "You're umday in any language."

"Flat Foot Stooges" (**) One of the flatter (no pun intended) shorts. The Stooges are inept firemen.This short misses its impress with a droll chronicle line that involves a gun powder eating duck (droll, even by Stooge standards), who lays an exploding egg and a old-fashioned ending that had no inconvenience do into it. Necessary for the first expend of 'Three Blind Mice' as the opening theme music.

"Healthy, Wealthy and Dead" (****) A tall Three Stooges vehicle. After winning the Coffin Nail Cigarette radio contest, the Stooges check into the snazzy Hotel Costa Plenty, accumulate plastered; kill the suite; score disquieted by a monkey; duck the hotel manager, and find railroaded by three pleasing female golddiggers. All this in 17 minutes! CLASSIC LINE: "Gentlemen, this bed goes encourage to Henry The Eighth." "That's nothing. We had a bed that went support to Sears Roebuck The Third."

"Violent Is The Word For Curly" (***1/2) This fan accepted is best known for the 'Alphabet Song'. The Boys are gas dwelling attendants wrong for three college professors. They wind up at Mildew College to impart the all girls school a thing or three. CLASSIC LINE: "You'll honest savor our student body." "Your's wouldn't be so unpleasant either if you took off 20 pounds."

"Three Missing Links" (**) One of the weaker films in this state (not to mention the Curly era) . After being fired as studio janitors, the Stooges are hired as actors and are shipped to the jungle for the shoot. Uninspired gags, old pacing and a funny sub space spirited 'love candy' paddle this one down. CLASSIC LINE: "There's enormous grammer for ya. I'm not me."

"Mutts To You" (***1/2) Moe, Larry and Curly speed the K9 Dog Laundry Service, a mammoth status with Rube Goldberg type contraptions. When the Stooges gather a baby on a doorstep, they grasp the tyke home fearing he's been abandoned. Lots of spacious gags, one liners and wild pacing allow the Boys to shine while relying less on their signature slaps and pokes with winning results. CLASSIC LINE: "Is he on the bottle yet? " "I should say not. He don't smoke, drink nor chew."

"Three Limited Sew and Sews" (*1/2) A disappointing and uneven short that even a manic Curly can't put. The Stooges pass themselves off as Admiral Tailor and his two assistants in hopes to accumulate a German gaze. There is one reliable gag that rehashes the spring in the butt and one CLASSIC LINE: "I'm gonna change my socks--what an experience."

"We Want Our Mummy" (****) Everything that makes a gigantic Three Stooges short is packed in this classic. Hired by a museum to gain the remains of King Rootentooten, the Stooges hire a taxi to Cairo and hook up with crooks who are trying to beat them to the punch. Lots of spacious gags (Curly's mirage sequence is a standout) and CLASSIC LINES: "And if the curse does strike them, it will be a blessing to humanity." "I can't be a mummy, I'm a Daddy."

"A Ducking They Did Go" (***1/2) The Stooges are on the accelerate for swiping watermelons and elude the cops by stumbling into the office of the Canvas Relieve Duck Club." Accelerate by two swindlers, the Stooges rope the police force (and the mayor) to join. When the resort is void of ducks, it's up to the Boys to round some up, pronto. "Yes, We Have No Bonanza" (****) One of the best of 1939, which was a stellar year for the Stooges. The boys work in a saloon and come by the buried like that their boss stole from the First National Bank. CLASSIC LINE: "Me, coming home from a hard day's work. I whistle for the dog and my wife comes out." NOTE: There is a period when the soundtrack loses its extreme ruin that results in a flat/tin sound. It should be famed that it is unexcited an improvement over previous releases of this short.

"Saved By The Belle" (***) This is one of the forgotten nuggets in the Stooges' arsonal. Stranded at their hotel in Valeska, the Stooges are aparral salesmen who accept mixed up as spies. With the back of the magnificent Rita, they try to effect their hides by delivering the plot needed to accumulate the cause. CLASSIC LINE: "Oh, no you don't. What kind of fool do you occupy me for? "Calling All Curs" (***1/2) The Stooges are the owners of a dog hospital. When their VIP patient is kidnapped, it's a madcap fling to track down the dognappers. CLASSIC LINE: "Success." "Success." "Mazel Tov."

"Oily To Bed, Oily to Rise" (****) When Jules White (as Director) wanted to, he could helm gems like this without relying soley on the cartoony, slapstick violence he was so fond of. To support Mrs. Jenkins accept her deed befriend from three crooks who gyped her (they discovered oil on her propery), the Stooges are burning the paddle to retrieve the deed. CLASSIC LINE: "Don't perceive now, but I believe we're about to be killed."

"Three Sappy People" (****) Once again, Jules White directs a classic that ends the era of the '30's. Posing as Dr's. Ziller, Zeller and Zoller, the Stooges are hired to cure a rich, bad heiress (played with finess by Lorna Grey) of her eccentric ways. This is one of the best of their 190 short films and is loaded with huge gags: the statue
reflex scene; the powder puff/biscuit bit; the tamale scene; the cream puff fight. CLASSIC LINE: "Why don't you obtain a toupe with some brains in it."

Pee-wee's Great Adventure is undoubtedly one of the funniest movies ever made. From the Rube Goldberg-esque breakfast machine to the Hollywood re-make of PW's life yarn, the laughs do not close from launch to execute. For months, I counted the days till the release of this DVD, and (with the exception of the cheesy cardboard "snap case") Warner Bros. has certainly done it accurate this time! The anamorphic widescreen portray is perfect; Danny Elfman's righteous collect sounds wonderful in Dolby digital stereo; and the extras exceeded my highest expectations. There's a commentary track with Paul Reubens (Pee-wee himself) and director Tim Burton; a music-only track with commentary by composer, Danny Elfman (timed so as not to interfere with the music) ; and a compilation of tale boards and sketches with yet a third commentary by the production designer! In the deleted scenes, you'll learn the origin of "Astonishing Larry", meet Boone the Own, and search for Pee-wee scamper that (red) boomerang bowtie he bought at the magic shop. This is a disc you'll glimpse over and over again. Order it now...and be certain and command `em Big Marge sent ya!

Tim Burton's directoral debut is so chock stout of involving bits and vision that a running commentary by Burton and creator/star Paul Reubens should have resulted in one of the best alternate tracks available on DVD. Unfortunately, their commentary becomes instead The Mutual Admiration Society, with long stories about how they came across each other, how grand each thinks the other is, and who else was in the room when they met. Reubens and Burton exhaust too powerful time telling stories that ramble and don't go anywhere, and too microscopic time commenting on the film itself.

When they DO manage to discuss the film, they are as inviting as you would inquire of, but these instances are few and far between. Burton for the most allotment sounds like he objective woke up, and Reubens spends a lot of the film saying, "Uh-huh, yeah."

It's also rather appalling that Reubens can hardly bring himself to say the name of fellow screenwriter Phil Hartman (Reubens early on says "me and the other two guys who wrote the film...") -- in fact, you won't hear him mention Hartman by name until the very raze of the film when Hartman makes his cameo.

Some gentle prodding during the taping of this sequence would have produced something that I judge more fans were looking for and expecting.

Like some other reviewers, I too couldn't win some of the knick-knacks promised in the pre-release. However, the one loyal prize on this disc is the alternate track isolating the music, with commentary by Danny Elfman. Elfman's insights into the film and its music are expedient, and while I'm jubilant Elfman does NOT talk over his music, it might have made it even more spicy had he discussed some of the nuances of his work while the tracks were playing.

The film quality on the DVD is honorable, and the menu screens are clever (when you earn a selection, Pee-wee goes speeding over to the original menu on his bike) . The film itself is knowing -- no need on my fraction to give you a summary -- and the widescreen format and original sound for this film alone would acquire the DVD worth owning. But with the exception of the Elfman alternative track, many of the reliable extras viewers are coming to interrogate in these packages are, sadly, missing here.

This is a really nice plot for WW II buffs. It has a lot of immense footage. The only drawback is that when it arrived it looked as though the box it came in had been through the war. I am getting so tired of ordering things from Amazon (specifically books, and DVD sets) only to have them reach with torn or ripped corners. If I had ordered this situation for a gift, I would have sent it aid for replacement. The edges of the box looked like it had been dropped, and the top of the box was torn. Oh well.

This was a reveal for my son-in-law who is into WWII history. Enormous collection!

I couldn't bear my eyes, that anyone would knock this generous version of the distinguished broken-down legend, but to each their acquire I relate. but to the one star rating which only slanders this great production I can only say lift it as a Bah Humbug and didmiss it. I am a collector of antique Christmas of many diverse avenues so of course I had to have every philosophize of this ever filmed, mainly because I appreciate the used Carol, not unbiased because I catch Christmas mind you, it's honest a radiant anecdote that I really treasure because what's better than seeing someone go from a hard hearted grump to a tender hearted Christmas lover!! God Bless traditional Scrooge, and I'm clear He did, in every person who ever was born anew in Him from any dismal past. You know, I even have this broken-down classic on a series of 78 records I play on my wind up report player, the one with Basil Rathbone as Scrooge. I even have the 1910 version from Thomas Edison's Studios. Well, when I found this one I'd overlooked it for a couple years and then didnt fetch to glance it at Christmas the year I bought it due to watching so many other Christmas Movies I have, 86 total. So during the Christmas season of 2007 I made a point to inspect it. Blissful I did too! It's amazing, the scene where Marley's Ghost comes to Scrooge,, well, I dont like to blow anything so I'll objective say it was very imaginative the plan they added a original flair to that sequence, very excellent indeed!!! So contented I bought a original plasma 50 stride HDTV last summer, movies like this are so perfect on the novel HDTV's. In my humble view, you cannot compare this musical to the 1970 musical with Albert Finney, Apples and Oranges, my God we're talking about 34 years dissimilarity for Pete sake. Because I adore them all for their absorb merits I don't compare them anyway. but I can affirm you this is a gigantic DVD to maintain, not at all a flop as another viewer claims. He/she probably doesnt beget in Santa Claus either, lol, enough said. the bottom line is simply this; If you esteem watching different versions of "A Christmas Carol" then by all means add this grand one to your collection and I promise you you'll be gratified you did. I'm a 53 year conventional Christmas lover who knows a obliging thing when I scrutinize it, I even gave copies of this on DVD to friends last Christmas if that says anything. If you are considerng buying this on DVD, rest easy intellectual its a marvelous bewitch.

This version of 'A Christmas Carol' will grow on you. I have to agree with one other reviewer, the music is the best allotment of this movie. As for Jason Alexander as Marley: he has one of the best musical numbers in the movie. "Link-by-Link" is absolutely toothsome. I also agree with the thoughts on Kelsey Grammer, that he did a astronomical job as Scrooge.

In the 1960's, when I was a kid, the NUMBER ONE fear star was definitely Vincent Mark! Accurate, he started scaring us out of our shorts in the 50's, what with HOUSE OF WAX, THE Glide, THE TINGLER, and (best of all, in my humble), HOUSE ON Disquieted HILL. But it wasn't until he joined forces with American International Pictures and Director/Producer Roger Corman that Vinnie carved his niche as a suitable American apprehension icon! THE Tumble OF THE HOUSE OF USHER started it all, the first in what's arrive to be known as "the Poe cycle." Released on tape in the mid 1980's (an contaminated transfer), HOUSE OF USHER (its title, once the credits roll) has never looked better than on this splendid DVD. Colors are rich, sound is crystal positive, really, it's like seeing the film in a movie theater! And Vinnie, oh, Vinnie, he's in resplendent manufacture here as the tragic Roderick Usher. Plagued by an over-heightening of the senses, he can't maintain to hear loud noises or smell anything stronger than the most ravishing perfume (yet, it doesn't prevent him from strumming a few off key notes on his mandolin!), Roderick is a tragic figure indeed. And what an imposing gawk! Breathtaking, even! This is Vincent Price's most startling and compelling characterization--snow white hair, blue eyes, pale complexion, and that oh-so-very superior method of speaking and acting. I loved Hammer Films, with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, but Vincent Mark was somebody we could call our our possess, a honest national fancy! Corman's direction is solid, and he makes the most of his petite cast (only 4 people) and budget--but everything looks so luxurious and expensive! You've got to remember that AIP was well-known for cranking out cheapjack shadowy and white quickies for the juvie market--so HOUSE OF USHER was an utterly drastic change of crawl for them. And it paid off, big-time! PIT AND THE PENDULUM (also available) soon followed, with TALES OF Panic, THE RAVEN, and MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH, et al,waiting in the wings! Can't wait for them to all hit DVD--and if MGM's Midnite Movies claims them, we can inquire quality, quality, quality! Oh! I should mention that Corman does an lively and comic commentary! Attractively packaged, moderately "PRICED," THE Tumble OF THE HOUSE OF USHER gives you MUCHO bang for your buck! Vincent, you may have departed our mortal world in 1992, but your legacy is alive and well! We'll never perceive the likes of you again, dark to say!

By far the best of all Vincent Mark / Roger Corman adaptions of the works of Edgar Allan Poe, this is really a alarm film that should be regarded as equal to the 30`s classic dread movies like Dracula or Frankenstein (it certainly is scarier than watching Karloff shuffle around in front of painted backdrops) . Director/writer John Hughes is one of those Hollywood success stories who has left in his wake a heap of approved and often spellbinding films, leaving an indelible imprint on motion characterize history. This particular John Hughes film stars John Candy as Uncle Buck, the kind of character Candy specialized in. He's a middle-aged kid who can't seem to gain a satisfactory reason to derive any responsibility in life. As he says in one scene, "People feeble to say to me, 'Buck, you've got it made. You've got no kids, no wife, no office, no desk, no boss, nothing to tie you down. You've really got it made.' Well, they don't say that to me any more."

Among Hughes's "coming of age" pictures, this one is unusual. The coming of age is usually a teen or preteen. Here's it's Uncle Buck who is coming of age. His brother and sister-in-law have to leave town for a few days to tend his brother's ailing father-in-law, and they are absolutely devoid of babysitters...except for Uncle Buck, the embarrassing relation they have chosen to avoid until now. Their three kids include 15-year-old Tia (Jean Louisa Kelly, now seen on TV's "Yes, Dear," in her film debut), 8-year-old Miles (Macaulay Culkin, his first major film role and the one that inspired Hughes to give him his next major role in a itsy-bitsy something called "Home Alone"), and 6-year-old Gaby Hoffman (shortly before she played the child lead in "Sleepless in Seattle") .

You can practically write the film yourself from there, to a point. Buck has to be responsible for the kids, falls in treasure with them, is a far better (and remarkable, distinguished funnier) surrogate dad than anyone could have guessed, and by film's kill things have all changed for the better. A edifying fraction of the not so sure reviews for this film are due to the authors' preference of the 16 year in coming Vampire Hunter D film, entitled "Bloodlust". Many people fail to look the potential of this 1985 classic (based on Hideyuki Kikuchi's first in a series of japanese novels), and instead they complain that the animation is "dated". What people fail to stare is the very compelling (albeit familiar) fable and original characters. Most of all, the few underlying themes within the film. The film (situation in the year 12,090) is about a victimized yet strong female character named Doris who lives in a rural spot and looks after her younger brother Dan without the assist of any family (the only one that can care for both of them is the local doctor, Ferring) . Humanity lives in a time where after a nuclear holocaust, they coexist with mutants, monstrosities, and vampires (the latter of which is seen by themselves and others as "nobility") . During a routine hunt, Doris's horse is viciously (and graphically) killed by the werewolf of the local 10,000 year venerable vampire count, Magnus Lee. Lee then bites Doris, and intends to retract her as his wife. Doris encounters the very stoic, very strong and shadowy vampire hunter, named D. The movie follows D's efforts to storm Lee's castle, deal with his many evil henchmen, and slay the count, in order to establish Doris from becoming a vampire.

2001's film, "Bloodlust" (based on Kikuchi's third fresh in the series) is about the kidnapping of a young woman named Charlotte Melbourne by a young looking vampire named Meier Link. Charlotte's father hires D to bring her befriend, or ruin her if she is to become a vampire herself. Not only does Charlotte's father hire D, but also the cocksure team of bounty hunters called the Markus Brothers (and sister, Leila) . Meier Link becomes wise to the various hunters, and hires members of the Barbaroy, a clan of viscious monsters. Throughout the film the viewer learns that Charlotte may not have been kidnapped, and she and Meier Link may actually admire each other (despite Meier's realization of the inescapable lust he will have to have for Charlotte) .

Though both films may seem to have similar stories (A wintry aloof and calm hunter needs to set a girl, etc), it is the 1985 film that clearly shines. The contrivance the sage is told in the unusual one is very straighforward, whereas "Bloodlust" is a very cheesy romantic chronicle fat of space holes and an overabundance of characters. There are very brilliant themes throughout the film, such as identity (D's dealing with the imbalance of his vampire and his human side, Lamica and the harsh realization of her legal nature, and mutant Rei's yearning for nobility), and the ignorance of upright nobility (the Lee family mistakenly goes against their renowned ancestor's suitable beliefs) . The themes of "Bloodlust" are a bit more cliche, such as the dealing with characters' pasts which they can't flee, and adore vs. lust.

Another quality the 1985 film has going for it are the great characters. D is a man frustrated with his identity (a half human and half vampire who has to deal with his possesed left hand constantly and wryly reminding him of his correct nature) and struggling with the possible worship of the female protagonist. Doris is a damsel in pain (albeit a strong one) with the responsibility of caring for her brother and the humiliation of being shunned by her hometown for being bitten by the Count. Doris also has to understand that she cannot ever have feelings for D, because D cannot repress his vampiric lust. The Lee family looks at themselves as friendly yet they are gravely ignorant of their ancestors lawful beliefs. Count Lee is a come 10,000 year extinct vampire overridden by boredom, resulting in his turning to "having fun" with human women every hunderd or so years. Lee's daughter heavily follows her father's improper understanding of humans being nothing more than livestock (leading to a pounding realization later in the film) . Lee's henchman Rei Ginsei is a mutant with unique talents, who wants to be well-liked into the house of Lee so that he isn't looked at as scum. Supporting the main characters are Dr. Ferring the town's humble doctor who tries his best to stand up for Doris; and Doris's valiant younger brother Dan who looks up to D as a role model and tries to shape himself into the same kind of person. The scrape with the characters in "Bloodlust" is that amongst the main characters of D (suffering from similar issues in the novel film), Leila Markus (shy by the past of her plain mother during her childhood), and Charlotte & Meier (their yearning to section their misunderstood cherish for each other), there are various supporting characters such as the Markus Brothers (hunters with no exact past besides a reputation), the frightful Barbaroy (ditto), and the bloody Countess Carmilla (the despicable spirit of a vampire who aids the couple, with an agenda of her bear) . This "supporting cast" doesn't really seem to have a point, other than to be killed in some intention by D or someone else. The memoir of Carmilla in relation to D seems to be a place hole that isn't exactly explained.

Before comparing animation, I will first say that "Bloodlust" has some of the most knowing and dazzling visuals I've ever seen in any anime and it would be no comparison as to which one is of finer quality. However, the art style and tone of the 1985 film is considerable more representative of the type of myth being told. The modern film is very murky, eerie, mysterious, a bit more of the macabre. "Bloodlust" however has many brilliant scenes, and seems powerful less unlit and distinguished less serious (a shrimp tidbit that will soon be covered), this takes away very noteworthy from the unlit nature and draw of the title character and the genre. The music shows this too: In "Bloodlust" it is very theatric, and over the top, whereas in the new it is subtle and foreboding.

Although this quality of the 2001 fraction is less outward than the rest of what I have mentioned, it is nonetheless great. There is a very evident Americanization of a narrative of Japanese origin within "Bloodlust" and the genre its narrative represents. As mentioned before the tone of "Bloodlust" is often times comedic and more action oriented than scare, which takes away heavily from the black nature of the Vampire Hunter D mythos. What is characteristic of American fright is that even in the darkest tales, there is usually someone or something there for humorous relief (go figure, evidentially "Bloodlust" was originally recorded in the English language) . D's left hand is reduced from a gloomy entity sardonically reminding D of his proper self to a sort of wise cracking sidekick.

The whole point of this was not only to review a tremendous film I am a enormous fan of, but to point out why I opinion this film as wholly generous to a 2001 film that gets more praise. In regards to "Bloodlust", I contemplate it's a astronomical film with a lot of potential that simply went to extinguish. Many people cloak leisurely the fact that it's so stunningly entertaining, but "What's a trustworthy looking plate with nothing on it? "
Vampire Hunter D. . . this is a film in which I tend to consider other anime films against. Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, and Vampire Hunter D are the Fab Four of the Anime Universe. You simply cannot go immoral by buying this film. Lots of futuristic action with a major Goth theme to it. You would grunt that this was taking site in the black ages during some parts of this film, but then you look the technology that they have in the future. . . WOW. That's all I can say. WOW. Do yourself a astronomical favor: Glimpse this movie! And with it coming out on DVD, how could it possibly glean any better? By the plot, even if you don't fully apreciate Japanese animation, this is serene one of the greatest vampire action movies of all time. If you want to explore an example of what mountainous japanese anime is all about, then there are objective a few films that you truly must see: AKIRA, Princess Mononoke, Ghost in the Shell, and Vampire Hunter D. This is truly a classic film. Savor.

I savor like fancy this movie, but you have to build certain you find the VHS version (where the VHS conceal is the cast riding in the car.) Lucky for me, this is the one I have. By mistake, I purchased the "immoral" version for a friend and we sat down to perceive it together. The music in the DVD version is Bad compared to the fresh (don't even regain me started on the c.d. soundtrack.) Whoever made the blunder of re-doing this for DVD re-release needs to be fired!

I guess I was lucky enough to salvage my hands on a VHS copy of this movie with the recent music, which did not include any Chris Isaak or K.D. Lang songs. If this is a period movie (and it should be), then period music should be mature in all the versions. It sounds like they couldn't gain apt clearance to expend all of the unique music for the movie, so they replaced songs like "Another Saturday Night" by Sam Cooke with a song by K.D. Lang, who was probably smooth in diapers in 1963. That's where the movie took a dive for me in a grand draw on the DVD version and it only got worse as the movie went on. Other songs were swapped out and music was added in scenes, like at the Carnival and the "Wild Night" scene, where the new version had no music.

Maybe if enough fans of this movie complain, MGM will blow the dust off their checkbook and pay the novel artists (or their estates) to accumulate the rights to expend their music. Some bonus features would be nice too. The least they could do was to allow 60 Runt Man to effect playing in the credits, like it did on VHS. If you are lucky enough to occupy an novel VHS copy, you'll look MGM did not rush the tubby credits like you would normally inspect in a movie, which would include the music credits.

My 2yr archaic loves this DVD...but he's always enjoyed The Wiggles. I can engage repeated viewings of every other Wiggles DVD we bear (as my son will want to perceive a DVD several times in a row), but for some reason, this one grates my nerves after only two viewings. Maybe it has to do with there being too many monkeys...who knows. How many times can you stand hearing a crazed monkey going "oh-oh, ah-ah, eek-eek" in Capt Feathersword's crazy dispute?

This DVD takes a miniature bit of getting venerable to since it is entirely about animals but like the other Wiggles DVDs, it becomes addictive. My 3 year veteran requests it over and over! All the songs are very memorable. Who out there does not obtain themselves humming or even singing along with the likes of "Chim-Chim-Cheree" or "Spoonful of Sugar"?

Julie Andrews will always be remembered for her role as Mary Poppins, and Dick Van Dyke absolutely shines as Bert the Chimney Sweep. Van Dyke also plays the senior officer of the bank - and has his very best scene where he realizes that the punchline - "A wooden leg named Smith" - is laughable. Andrews won an Academy Award for Mary Poppins, and the movie also won Best Visual Effects, and Best Music Regain, as well as Best Song ("Chim Chim Cher-ee") .

I wish I could give this film 10 stars! Watching it for the first time on television last year, I was very moved, and I feel it is the best film about Jesus that has ever been done. The spend of 3-D and 2-D animation was very creative. The 2-D animation was conventional for flashbacks or when Jesus was telling stories (such as the parables) which gave a realness to the 3-D characters. Also, the 3-D characters were less distracting than live actors which effect more emphasis on the sage and its message.

Based on the book of Luke, it is Biblically just. The only error I could stare, and very minor, was when during the Parable of the Great Samaritan and one of the people who walked was said to be Sadducee. I allege the writer understanding that would more entertaining. Of course one always wishes they could have every scene, but realistically the film producers could not include everything and were restricted to 90 min. I do wish they had been able to include Jesus calming the storm, but I am blissful at what the writer COULD include like the Road to Emmaus (not included in any other film I've ever seen) . I understand that the writer is a Christian, which shows, by the emphasis on the Resurrection and mention of the Holy Spirit(at Christ's baptism and Accension) . The writer did expend parts from the other Gospels as well to complement Luke.

The account is masterfully done and I like how the characters are developed, especially Mary Magdalene and Tamar (they gave her a name), the Leader of the Synogogue's 12 year used daughter who was raised from the dumb. It was dapper how they followed the narrative from a child's discover plan and the character of Tamar was a thread that helped bring the anecdote together. Another theme that was throughout the narrative which I really liked, was the view of Jesus being the Doorway into Life.

The DVD has some desirable features including a documentary about how the film was made. They demonstrate the dinky dolls, models, that were made by Russian animators. I reflect many of us would like to have the Jesus one! I also liked how the menu has Christian symbols on it, and the cursor that you exhaust to buy special features is in the shape of a bad. Very creative.

I mediate this film has had a very important spiritual impact on many people and it was definitely inspired! The soundtrack is also improbable (very engaging) and really adds to the movie. Lastly, the best thing about this film is that it makes you want to go read the Bible!! :-)

This is my all-time common of the Disney fascinating classics; I have seen it countless times, and be pleased it as powerful as the first time I saw it, diagram serve when I was 7 years worn. Disney's THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD is one of the best Halloween DVDs available, especially if you are looking for something to entertain--and spook!--the entire family.

There are actually two stories on this film, the first segment being a "telling" of Kenneth Grahame's THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS. The animation is well done--as are most Disney cartoons from this era (c. 1949) --and the narration by Basil Rathbone is wonderfully literate. Boom characterizations are done by other actors, however, which detracts from the film's premise that the legend is being "told" by the outmoded Mr. Rathbone. While this segment is certainly though-provoking enough, it is NOT the highlight of the DVD. That honor goes to the other segment....

The remainder of the film is a "telling" of Washington Irving's THE Epic OF SLEEPY HOLLOW, and it is sheer delight. This classic American ghost legend is narrated by Bing Crosby, who also sings all of the songs and voices nearly all of the characterizations. The script is very genuine to the source material, even including--though a miniature less subtly than Mr. Irving--the same wry sense of humor. The depiction of the Headless Hessian himself is really spooky, too, though aloof gentle enough so as not to panic the diminutive ones too mighty. Lots of fun for stale and young alike, this, and a mammoth film for the family to glimpse on Halloween night!

Also included on the DVD is the classic Disney moving short LONESOME GHOSTS. The visuals are nothing short of exquisite, especially in HD. It's worth the download impartial to check out how beautifully the cg animation is rendered. The action scenes are tight, with Matrix-esque monotonous motion shots, crazy camera angles and an emphasis on heavy gun play, indicative of producer John Woo's style. One drawback on the cg animation though is that when characters interact with each other physically it seems awkward. They don't feel like they are touching. I imagine that when you design something with animation like that you'd bustle into clipping issues when the characters intereact heavily. In fact, it reminded me of nick scenes from Eternal Sonata, a video game using similar animation techniques but on a bigger scale obviously.

The legend is an upgrade from the first movie, although the main antagonist borrows heavily from classic Star Walk villain, the Borg. There's even a Borg like cube of sorts that serves as it's foundation. The subplot consists of a triangle between Deunan, Briareos (the main protagonists from the first movie) and Tereus, a biroid created mostly from Briareos's DNA who becomes Deunan's recent partner after her lover falls in battle.

If I were to effect a criticism I'd say that the main antagonist was revealed a tad too tedious, making the final resolution a shrimp anti-climactic. At a runtime of about an hour and 40 minutes I felt like another 20 minutes would have been justified. When it was over, I couldn't quite maintain it at first. Also, and this may be a first-rate thing, events from the first movie go almost completely without mention. This means that you won't have to have seen the first one to indulge in this, but at the same time there is a lack of continuity for those that did.

All in all though, it's a superior film and worth a examine.
The first Appleseed film (from 2004) was quite a treat. The cell-shaded CG graphics looked very honorable for the time. Complementing this sure standout aspect was an fascinating sage and an capable soundtrack. My two gripes with the visuals are these: First, in what is all too accepted in action movies like this, the best scene is the first one. Hands down. I don't understand why so many directors feel the need to frontload their movies. I will say that the movie is less guilty of this than its predecessor. Second, movement outside of action scenes collected looks a bit jerky. Some might fault mo-cap technology, but for my money, Final Fantasy: Advent Children boasted some grand believable movement.

STORY/WRITING:
Here's where Ex Machina falls apart. The legend here isn't anything you haven't seen executed better in anime/other entertainment. Compared to the situation of the first movie- which created a novel sci-fi framework, this one felt like a filler episode. The villain was cliche, the epic far less complex/meaningful than the first, and any intrigue or mystery the narrative might yet have held was ruined by the putrid writing. The film tasks itself with letting the viewer in on a number of concepts vital to the set, but rather than integrate them seamlessly into the dialog, it bashes the viewer over the head with them.

MUSIC:
The soundtrack wasn't bad- I fair didn't inspect it most of the time. This constitutes a exiguous letdown considering how often I return to the soundtrack from the first movie.

OVERALL: Ex Machina is a view to glimpse and warrants a blu-ray hold. Unprejudiced don't demand it to expand great on the ideas introduced in the first Appleseed.

Love this explain, too. I wasn't obvious how it was supposed to work after the pilot but it really did. The stories are great, the dialogues witty, shimmering and to the point, the characters are racy and the mix of comedy, thriller & action is very well balanced.

Season 2 is being shot april-october so the first recent episodes will air in summer, by the draw.

The seasons are shorter than usual, somewhere between 12 and 16 episodes I contain, but the budget must be as tall as for 22 episodes because each on feels like a microscopic blockbuster. So for those of you who missed the demonstrate so far, procure it ASAP!!!

Once again the Weinstein circus has squashed another great film with no distribution and misleading shroud art (their two specialties) . To succor with the art, there is no well-known gun play (smoking gun mask), and the central character played excellently (in English) by Romain Duris gets supplemental pics on the support cloak only. Yes, Malkovich and Lilly have supporting roles that they play with remarkable directness, but this is really about one man's tear in finding what is considerable before a fatalistic event may or may not occur in his life. The tagline of "scare the messenger" is actually the opposite of what the film is trying to drawl. And the misplaced camouflage quote (with terrible grammar) reveals nothing about the truth of the film ("..tension.."? ) - was more of a subtle emotional plot.

There is a resplendent serenity to this entire film - all inclusive with how they manage the cityscapes, countrysides and solitude of the central character, both with the musical bag and the cinematography.
