This won’t be an in depth review, so I’ll hold this short. And this won’t be distinguished of a review of Absorb Grylls as an expert on surviving in the wild. But, I will say these 10 adventures are titillating, and it shows us parts of the world that aren’t too explored….television wise, that is.

Also, there ARE English subtitles for this season. So, to anybody complaining about the lack of subtitles/closed captions on previous seasons, Discovery does it moral with this season. I’m not determined if there are closed captions however, but there are English subtitles only.
Another thing, be prepared, like always, for a strong stomach for at least some of these episodes. Some of what he eats is impartial bad.
I definitely enjoyed the season. I was hoping that the episode with Will Farrell was going to be in it but to my fear, i will have to wait for the next season. there was a tiny bit of stagnancy in the situations Beget had to face. a lot of the situations that were left for him didn’t pan out as unexpected. must say that the bee-sting in the face on the salt pans was a test of endurance. made it through unprejudiced as the WILDMAN always does. this season is definitely a reliable addition to the collection.

I reflect a lot of reviews of this film have been unduly harsh. I have had a resplendent amount of Shakespearean exposure (I was an English major in college), and I am actually impressed with Baz Luhrmann’s interpretation of the text. Some people are so blinded by the seeming erudite stuffiness of Shakespeare’s work that they forget what this play is really about. `Romeo and Juliet’ is a teenage melodrama! With that said, this film works well.

* To open with, Leonardo DiCaprio and Clare Danes arrive off fair accurate as the “star-crossed lovers.” They handle their lines – perhaps – a bit awkwardly, and their key scenes are overacted. But as far as I’m concerned, their somewhat `poor’ performances are actually perfect. In the reality of the play – Romeo and Juliet’s behavior (though arguably passionate) is less than obedient. They are young, fickle, and burly of hormones, and what might seem like acts of heart-felt treasure and desire are actually impartial enchanting explorations of subversive behavior.
* Many have lamented that the dialogue in this film (essentially) mirrors the unique text … but changing the text (in any major scheme) would be a titanic mistake. Shakespeare’s plays are not noted because they have a mountainous yarn line – they are noted because of the wonderful writing. It would, therefore, be pointless to modernize the dialogue. Shakespeare’s plays ARE the dialogue.

* Although this film – compared with other renditions of the play – is decidedly novel, sure elements do contribute to a sort of timely ambiguity. The cars, guns, drugs, and music suggest 1996 (or thereabouts), whereas the gothic mansions, the ball, the feuding families, and the oppressive presence of the Church seem somewhat anachronistic. I contemplate this ambiguity speaks to the universality of Shakespeare’s work. Does it even matter when this play takes station? Have hot-blooded teenagers changed that noteworthy over the years?
* Lastly, the ambience of Lurhmann’s film is intoxicating: zipping, choppy cinematography, an over-abundance of gaudy electric lighting, and an inviting soundtrack. It’s very interesting in an adolescent sort of map. Anyone who does not acquire the scene – where DiCaprio is dragging on a cigarette against an orangey sunscape, with Radiohead’s “Talk Note Host” slowly pulsing in the background – sentimentally sexy – well, you must not remember what it’s like to be 15.
All in all, this is an ingenious arrive to a classic text – not to mention an provocative film.
William Shakespeare’s classic `Romeo + Juliet’ is probably one of the most influential pieces of literature ever recorded. You can feel its presence and influence breathing life into objective about everything we read, discover or listen to these days. With a epic this classic, this vital to original cinema it becomes something a bit wary to tackle it at its core and `remake’ it from scratch. One may be a tad hesitant to embrace its current shape and perform and rightfully so. When you stare at the track report for remakes it becomes apparent that in general what was once golden should be left well enough alone. In Romeo + Juliet’s case though this is a reimagining so magical it surpasses the modern and becomes a momentous part in the history books of cinema. Yes, Baz Luhrmann single handedly breathes a whole modern life into this adaptation, handing to his audience a masterful and experimental film that never lets us out of its recall.
The first thing that Luhrmann did accurate was stick to the unique text. A lot of people initially balked at the fact that the dialog was not updated along with the setting but I felt that artistically it was a powerful grander feat to have the novel dialog kept intact. The fact that each and every actor slips into this intention of speaking fluently and without pronounce is an ode to some gigantic talent indeed. No one seems out of residence of phoning it. Each and every actor handles the difficult wording marvelously. The next thing Luhrmann did upright was trashing his setting. What I mean by this is that he didn’t go the easy route and invent this posh and shapely but rather he played everything down, creating an almost gritty and dirty feeling to the surroundings. This is the future and the future is bleak.
The best thing that Luhrmann did though was casting Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in the lead roles. At the time DiCaprio was slowly becoming a credible actor and Danes was fair becoming known. Neither of them were quote-unquote household names or completely bankable yet but they both had proven they could act. Here though we derive to perceive how well. To this day I peaceful firmly own that this is Leonardo’s finest performance. Both he and Danes masterfully mutter their characters. Never has Romeo or Juliet felt so alive, so precise and so relatable. Their tragic like affair is so provocative, so lively and so breathtaking. There are moments between them of pure beauty and strength that I’m appalled their performances didn’t garner more awards attention.
The rest of the cast is equally as impressive, especially the likes of Harold Perrineau (of `Lost’ fame) who plays Romeo’s best friend Mercutio. His performance is unique and flamboyant and adds a lot to the atmosphere of the film. John Leguizamo is memorable as Tybolt, Juliet’s cousin, and Pete Postlethwaite is astonishing as Father Laurence. Paul Sorvino stands out for me as Juliet’s father Fulgencio Capulet. His performance is brutal and intense and sends chills down my spine in scenes.
`William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet’ has never looked as great as it does here, telling the legend of forbidden appreciate and tragic circumstance that brings two families to their knees and teaches us a distinguished lesson about forgiveness and tolerance. Baz Luhrmaan outdoes himself here, delivering a current twist on a fine classic complete with a attractive color palate and an impressive soundtrack that adds layers of emotion, whether soft and touching or crisp and sharp (one reason this `Music Edition’ is so worth the upgrade) . It’s not very often that the remake stands above its source material but Luhrmann’s masterpiece is impartial that film.

Unfortunately, I horror that many people who eye “Ghost Dog: The Method of the Samurai” will not luxuriate in it. When I first watched the film, a number of audience members uttered aloud, “What the hell is this movie about? ” I imagine they were anticipating a far different — and, dare I say, wrong — type of film, like a immoral between “Friday” and a John Woo film. It is initially easy to deem that, yes, the film is an eclectic syncretism of many genres and film formulas; but out of this mixture comes a novel and refreshing invention, a film worth seeing that will no doubt sustain open-minded viewers stimulated and awe-inspired.
I walked away from “Ghost Dog” quietly hailing it as the best and most fresh film I’ve seen this year. When friends asked me what this film was “about,” I honestly couldn’t give a straight retort.
“Ghost Dog” is like a mountainous poem, meticulously structured and detailed with loving touches, rich with multilevelled meanings. The art direction is subtle yet dauntless, with a color palate to suit every scene; the RZA’s musical soundtrack, which you will want to acquire, is collected and aesthetic, curious dream-like and meditative head-bobbing; the film’s well-timed screwball-caliber sense of humor is fabulous (you may well catch yourself laughing amusing at unexpected moments) ; the film pirouettes effortlessly through a variety of themes: run relations, literature, loyalty, and even hip-hop; and, above all, “Ghost Dog” is filled with immense peformances and memorable characters.

Forest Whitaker, most notably, gives one of his finest performances as the film’s title character (inadequately described as an “insane but ethical assassin” by various critics) . His is a poignant portrait of a bruised and lonely soul, fire-hardened by a samurai’s discipline and sense of honor; his dynamic visage meanders smoothly from bliss to ferocity, with a haunting (and horrified) calmness, a flickering sense of compassion. In addition, Whitaker’s lyrical readings from the “Hagakure: Book of the Samurai”, with his gravelly yet fluid order, harmonize pure poetry with pure cinematic imagery — something to be experienced rather than described. And his soulful relationship with his best friend, a Haitian ice cream vendor who speaks French but not a lick of English (while Ghost Dog himself speaks no French), is particularly touching, arcane, and possessed of an unsayable splendor.
Out of respect for the film, I dare not stammer any of the film’s other details or surprises. Like any masterful art, “Ghost Dog: The Plot of the Samurai” is meant to be experienced rather than merely described. While many will score the film too bizarre — especially for a palate accustomed to Hollywood’s mainstream rigmarole — I could say that, at the very least, “Ghost Dog” will certainly please filmgoers in search of a current and sharp entertainment.
“Ghost Dog: The Contrivance of the Samurai” is an experience, and like all tremendous films it feels too short. In a time when most mainstream films leave many of us hungry for original images, smarter stories, and astronomical surprises — “Ghost Dog” is a film to nourish us.
After seeing all of Jim Jarmusch’s films, I have to admit not a single one of them is easy to perceive. All of them are stupid and wearisome, but I like them anyway. Unlike all his earlier work, Ghost Dog is easily accessible yet serene definitely a “Jim” movie.

The subtle beauty of this movie is swiftly realized within the first few minutes of the film. The initiate of this film is great like his earlier works, usually showing a rush down portion of a town with music playing overtop. They seem to be the only shots he uses that have panning and movement with the camera. After radiant his work, you realize this is because he hates showing the audience what to ogle at. It is honest one of the few things Jarmusch does that makes him the best. But, wait on to the music. Of all the soundtracks that he has had in the past 20 years, I must admit this one is the best. He allows RZA (from Wu Tang Clan fame) to add music that enhances every scene, which is different from what he normally does. These tracks are all awesome, varying from an outright Gangsta Rap song to the weirdest jazz ever created.
The rest of the movie is exquisite in every arrangement. Jarmusch once again uses poetry to invent visuals that go along with his delicate dialogue. This movie probably has the most dialogue of any of his movies, yet it peaceful isn’t noteworthy. There are things that hold getting faded to and seem like they are not valuable to the residence, but for some reason they are impartial really sizable scenes. A genuine example of this is the scene when Ghost Dog and his Haitian friend (who knows why Jarmusch made him not be able to communicate with his best friend? ) are watching a man effect a boat in an alley for no apparent reason. There seems to be no logic to this scene, yet it has a sure charm that unbiased adds character to all his films.

This, like a lot of Jarmusch movies, creates a movie that brings together many different aspects never assign together before. In this, he combines Eastern Philosphy, The Dying Mob Scene, and the Hip Hop generation all into one sage. That is something no director could pull off in a two hour movie.
As for the rest of this movie, I can’t say enough. With things like mobsters watching conventional (and a few Itchy & Scratchy) cartoons that seem to be foreshadowing, how can you go rotten? Plus, the addition of carrier pigeons as communication, GENIUS! You must understand that this movie is probabaly his funniest yet (tied with Monotonous Man) with the addition of Rapping Mob bosses and overall comely acting. Robbie Muller once again proves why he’s the best filmographer in the business, Forest Whitaker finally gets a role that he deserves, and Jim Jarmusch strengthens his greatness with another masterpiece to add to his library.

You won’t get a titanic ensemble cast in this World War II film from 1968. Only 2 actors squawk the memoir, and they don’t even deny the same langauge. But they don’t need to, these two actors are Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune. They describe enemies, one American, one Japanese, marooned on an island in the midst of the war. They are so brillant in their portrayals, that actions really do stutter louder than words. You won’t even miss the fact that there are no subtitles when Mifune is speaking. His every expression, lets us know exactly what he is thinking.
Add to this the artful direction of John Boorman, who brought us such exquiste films as “Excalibur”, the extraordinary music of Lalo Schifrin (Mission Impossible), and the expert peer of Cinematographer Conrad Hall(Butch Cassidy, American Beauty) and you’re in for a proper cinematic treat.
When a disciplined Japanese Naval Officer discovers he is not alone on the miniature Island in the Pacific, he immediatly goes into high gear to protect and defend his territory. But he has met his match in the very undisciplined American Marine that has been washed ashore. And so it begins…these two do everything they can to purchase, torture, and generally accomplish life unhappy for each other(and at times is on the laughable side) . The need for human contact though, becomes apparent and they end short at killing each other, and actually perform an attachment to each other. The ending is a bit of a shocker, but there is also an alternate ending included with this DVD.

Anchor Bay as usual has really made this 35 year dilapidated film a pleasure to peek. You have the choice of widescreen(2.35:1) or rotund format(by the diagram, my DVD was mismarked as to which side was widescreen, so don’t scare if this happens, objective flip it over) . Suitable portray, vibrant colors and the sound in Dolby Dig Stereo is determined as a bell. And don’t forget to check out the alternate ending.
A vast rob for fans of war movies, Marvin and Mifune, and anyone who appreciates artful film making.
Enjoy….Laurie

My fiance got me the DVD as a reveal to me on his birthday. It sat for a month and then we finally watched it together. I was amazed that there was no dialogue… really. Very limited. And when we were watching the DVD, we did not settle the option for subtitles and only realized that option after we’d seen the film. Overall it is a film to peep — really peek. After you watch it once without the subtitles, observe it again with them. Makes it a totally different experience. The acting and directing is improbable and one is left wondering, what the screenplay of this film actually looked like. Not too many special features but there is an alternate ending that is challenging.

The world is at threat from aliens (OK, cute aliens) and the only people who can discontinuance them are…three 8 year-olds?!
That’s the basic set-up to the ultra-cute series, Mao-Chan. From Ken Akamatsu, the mastermind slow the wildly-popular Admire, Hina comes a glance at saving the world through the eyes of an 8 year worn. In this first volume, we meet our three heroines Mao, who controls all Land-based operations, Misora, who is in charge of Air-based missons, and Sylvia, who mans all Sea-based missions. Together, the girls must finish cute aliens from taking over Japan.
Now, when I first heard about this, I opinion the series was very annoying (and very girly; pink is diffently not my color nor mood) . But after reading comely reviews, I decided to give it a go.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Mao-Chan! Click Here
The first volumes has a total of 7 episodes, each about 12-15 minutes long, which is objective enough cuteness that won’t build you puke. The animation glows with intellectual and neutral colors that are captivating and add over-all character to this series. I listened to the English dub and was very blissful. Pioneer/Geneon has always done a rather obliging job with translations, so they acquire an A in my book.
I gave this 4 stars because the voices for the English dub where rather soft and kinda high-pitched (then again, the main characters are 8 afterall) . Also, with so many Magical Girl series running amuck, it puts a small strain on the over-all main characters. You also find the standerd extras, like a creditless opening, bloopers and trailers. But if you can obtain past teh faults, then Mao-Chan is a palatable romp through a world of cute kids (and aliens), non-violence and over-all fun!
(Disclaimer: I have never seen Cherish Hina.)
Watching this series makes me ecstatic! The entire premise is based around cuteness — I’ve never heard the *characters* of an anime say the word “kawaii” so frequently (I watched this subbed) — but I don’t reflect it’s cloying or excessive. The fact that there’s a distinct military aspect to all of the magical girl action makes for some comical jokes that the normal elementary-school-aged viewing audience is likely to miss. The young characters are likable (the adults less so, though I deem Sylvie’s grandfather is graceful comic) .

Volume 1 contains some savory, fleet episodes and introduces the characters. The DVD itself doesn’t (iirc) have particularly spirited extras, but the present negate is sufficiently worth it.
If you abominate puny children and assume they’re whiny, you’ll probably abominate this, but try it if you can be pleased “the delight of viewing the world through a 2nd-grader’s eyes”, or cute things, or meta-humor about cute things, or cute things defending Japan from cute things, etc.

I tried to interpret this exhibit to somebody the other day, and the most appropriate description that I could arrive up with was “Entourage is like the male version of ‘Sex & The City’, but based in Hollywood and with a more clearly defined set.” So, yeah… that’s aesthetic mighty it.

If you stare one episode and be pleased it, then you MUST try to scrutinize the whole series in its’ entirety. Definite, you could jump in and commence watching at any time, but the only method that you’ll luxuriate in the inside jokes and past references is to search for it from front to support. The show’s writers really net into a gigantic rhythm around the middle of season two.
In my thought, the Proper stars of this series are Johnny Drama, Turtle, and Ari. Determined, the relationship between Eric (aka ‘E’) and movie star Vince is the engine that drives the exhibit, but the funniest moments in the exhibit involve the other members of the entourage. ‘E’ tends to rob himself a shrimp too seriously, and his girl problems are rather contrived at times. Vince is certainly the center of attention in his puny universe because everything hinges on his career, but he couldn’t function without his aid group – which is the point of the indicate, I reflect.

My accepted facet of the exhibit is how everybody that they interact with on a regular basis are all stereotypical entertainment industry people; from the sycophantic personal assistants and ubiquitous groupies, to the slick and smarmy super-agents and power inflamed producers. Also, the nature of the show’s Hollywood locale results in the inclusion of tons of broad Star Cameos.
Entourage was one of the few shows in fresh memory that had me laughing out loud and actually giving a crap about what happened to the characters as the record developed. I can’t wait to witness what goes down in Season Three. If you’d like a solid TV drama/comedy that’s got a shot of testosterone, or if you’re tired of your girl forcing you to sit through re-runs of ‘Sex & The City’ and want to acquire her spy something you BOTH might like for a change, then you should check out Entourage.
The gang is befriend and this time around Vinny is going to be in the newest hit movie “Aquaman” directed by James Cameron. Vinny’s co-star for Aquaman will be Mandy Moore. Near to get out, Vinny’s heart was crushed by Mandy on the movie `A Trail to Remember’. Yep… our woman hungry movie star Vinny at one time actually had his heart broken. He was in treasure. Mandy is now happily engaged to someone else and all she wants to be with Vinny is friends. Or does she. Ah, gotta cherish some righteous drama. Speaking of drama, Johnny Drama is headed to Silly Con to dress up as his stale character from Viking Quest (contemplate of the venerable TV note Hercules) and note autographs and do a few bucks. Vince is going to promote his movie so of course Turtle and Eric go also. But here at Droll Con, the tides have changed and Johnny is the gargantuan star. He’s got hot women all over him and everyone wants to talk to him. Turtle later on finds an up and coming music star and wants to manage him, even though the guy stole Vince’s car. E finds modern admire in Ari Gold’s boss’s daughter.
Now even though the gang is a suitable group of guys and actors, I mediate if someone else would have played their characters (from the beginning of the note), we would smooth be laughing (maybe not Drama though) . I have one exception though and that is Ari Gold who is played by Jeremy Piven. The guy is a genius. Fair about all of his lines are a godsend to the demonstrate whether they are coarse, witty, loving, wrathful, disquieted, sarcastic, or edifying, they are all colossal lines. Most of the time comical as hell lines. His actions are another thing that’s expansive about him because he seems to be a grand ball of energy that’s about to explode. I’ve always liked him in honest about everything he’s been in, but he has really found himself in this indicate.
One other guy I’d like to mention is the newcomer Lloyd. Ari’s fresh assistant. I didn’t deem I was going to like him that remarkable, but he has brought a LOT of comedy to this exhibit. Main reason for that is because he’s Asian and he’s joyful. So now Ari has even more ammunition for his onslaught of mean sarcasm. And because Lloyd is a man, Ari is a miniature harder on him than if he was a woman. But Lloyd is VERY feminine and will scream and find afflict and will unprejudiced ignore Ari if he wants to which aggravates Ari even more. You can’t aid but root for Lloyd almost all of the time. Such a tremendous fresh character.
When it comes to the jokes and glamour, not noteworthy has changed, but that’s respectable. The writing is peaceful hilarious and very witty. The demonstrate is corpulent of guest cameos which are sizable if you are a broad movie fan like I am. I hold season 2 is better than season 1 and I really liked season 1. This present honestly gets better as it pick up older.
Highly recommended.

Put me to expend. That’s what the so-called Ritchie Boys asked of the U.S. Army in World War II, and they got what they wanted. These unusual recruits, alien refugees–some original off the boat from Europe–were shipped off to Camp Ritchie to learn how the German military did its thing so they could question prisoners in warzones. It’s a World War II epic that hadn’t been told yet, and the Ritchie Boys themselves develop for enchanting watching and a fantastic memoir. Dusan Makavejev’s 1974 film Sweet Movie is an indictment toward all forms of authority and convention. It does not obviously or even wittingly perhaps reach from an fair political standard itself, but it instead exists to attack all that rules us. It skewers capitalism, communism, and absolutely everything in between. Perhaps it is a call specifically for some sort of Anarcho-Primitivism? Perhaps Sweet Movie is simply a celebration of life in its believe sick and curved contrivance?

Sweet Movie follows two different stories and both feature a female protagonist. The first follows a contestant of the 1984 Miss Monde pageant. She wins and her prize is her marriage to some substantial corporate dude. She is timorous by how he degrades her in their first meeting and she runs away. Her rejection is met with displeasure by his cronies and she ends up getting fair severely humiliated and then stuffed into a suitcase and shipped off to France. After that she gets stuck to some Latin guy and enters a commune and some fine wacky things happen. This tale operates as a criticism toward capitalism and consumerism at the beginning and the conclusion, while it seems to attack communism in the middle. The second chronicle follows a young woman who is leading a boat down a river. The boat is elephantine of candy and has a statue of Karl Marx on it. She seduces all who encounter her with sex, candy and propaganda. Then she kills them. Obviously it is a divulge attack on communism.
There are some aesthetic evil things in Sweet Movie but that shouldn’t be a surprise when taking into fable the time period and some of the subversive and surreal counterculture names eager in the film (e.g. Otto Muehl, Roland Topor and George Melly) . The film captures a cultural movement in some respects and the significance is there but overall Sweet Movie was too obscure to have an impact. Only now does it resonate but for very different reasons. It stands out for its visual shock alone.

There is a very strong emphasis on bodily functions in Sweet Movie, more so than anything I’ve ever seen or even want to peruse again for that matter. I can’t pinpoint why but it’s more than likely Dusan Makavejev’s attempt to compel us to revolt against all of our societal institutions by directly desensitizing us to his perspective that we are all impartial gassy and disgusting animals. Consume a few days resisting your normal cognitive functions or consume some time with dementia patients and you’ll earn a splendid smell of what Makavejev is trying to pick up at here…I assume? I’m not clear I agree with him in those sorts of details, but in spirit I like where he is going with Sweet Movie. We all could spend a worthy smack away from the restraints of everyday society.
Keep in mind; it is virtually impossible to find anything out of Sweet Movie if you rob it too literally. It is designed to surprise the viewer and club them over the head with shock. The plight with that is Sweet Movie was so repulsive for its time that it was hardly even seen. People were not ready then, but maybe the world has grown sicker since. Criterion may have picked a more accessible release date for Sweet Movie than Makavejev did. Asking ourselves the questions that this film might design may be more famous now than ever.
There are movies that are devised from formulas developed to abet (and be served by) the Demographic ….. and then there are those rare films that form their contain audience. Unfortunately, when Makavejev first unleashed his Sweet Movie in 1974, most fervent parties of influence saw fit to have it banned, and the filmmaker himself was exiled (along with some cast members) from his native Yugoslavia for nearly 15 years.
Multi-mega kudos to Criterion for rescuing this now very alive and relevant explosion of a movie from near-obscurity. Beautifully restored, looking and sounding better than I remembered it, and including in this edition interviews and more in-depth facts about the making and history of this one-of-a-kind movie, watching it again restored in this viewer an appreciation of artists who attach themselves blueprint out on a line to give life to a vision, one that can become more relevant over time, despite overall condemnation at its initial release. As stated in the accompanying literature, there are countries where the movie is banned for any sort of distribution, to this day.
The dual fable line, about two Women of Earth (Miss Monde 1984 and Captain Anna Planeta), is interwoven in a montage-like format that lashes out at Capitalism and Communism, spits in the ogle of all manner of creative or sensual oppression, and does so in a take-no-prisoners satirical fantasy sense that helps lighten up the otherwise murky and intense subject matter. As Makavejev explains in an interview, had he tried to do any of it seriously, it would have hampered his film’s acceptance all the more so, for it was fully his intent to execute contact with his audience in an provocative, circus-style (although somewhat abstract) manner. Anna Planeta commandeers a sort of ghost ship, Survival (sporting a big carving of Karl Marx’s noggin on front), through the canals of Amsterdam; she is a phantom, a political prostitute, and a reluctant predator, attracting victims with sex, candy and propaganda. She is joined by a nameless sailor who wears a cap from the Battleship Potemkin (another phantom? ), and despite her warnings that her sweetened cargo is rife with corpses, he is swept up in the overjoyed delirium of the Survival’s relentless voyage to …? Meanwhile, Miss Canada is inspected by a principal gynecologist on The Crazy Daisy Expose, wins the title of Miss World 1984 along with an arranged marriage to a Texas milk tycoon who wants to purchase Niagara Falls. The wedding night doesn’t go so well, and next thing she knows she is knocked out, packed into a suitcase and shipped off to Paris ….. at which point things pick up outlandish on a Candide level. Grand of the movie’s final third, tantalizing a near-explicit sex dance for young boys and some truly disturbing performance art (which was entirely improvised by Otto Muehl’s Viennese Therapy Commune) tantalizing eating, excreting, self-mutilating and acting like babies is clear to elicit squirms, and a private first viewing is highly recommended. Although, if you really wanted to mess with people at a party, play this film and follow it with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
As mentioned earlier, the included extras deepen the experience of the film, as well as introduce a welcome sense of normalcy after viewing. One outstanding addition is star Anna (Planeta) Prucal’s interview about the accomplish the film had on her life (she was one of those who was exiled), and a comely performance of a song from the film that will induce tears. Her blissfully unbound performance as Captain Anna carries Sweet Movie with a courage that is advance unmatchable in cinema. No less gallant is the sparkling Carole Laure, whose surreal odyssey in the parallel reality we fraction in a nearly unspeaking performance, and whose undulations in a vat of chocolate syrup will linger long in the viewer’s memory.
A hard film to recommend, but titanic for one of those Dare-Yourself-To-Sit-Through-It evenings, Sweet Movie’s return down the canal is distinct to originate up a whole current generation of discussion with its resurrection into the digital archives. The title itself is its absorb expletive; but like any well-known work, its “meaning” is wholly about the execute of its experience.

This movie literally made me topple in adore….with Ireland, it’s legends, it’s music and especially with a definite leprechaun named Mickey Muldoon (Daniel Betts, a phenominal young actor.) The epic was creative while staying lawful to the passe Irish tales, and Shakespear’s “Romeo and Juliet” theme was never veteran to better advantage. There were a few incongruities, and Randy Quaid and Whoopi Goldberg seemed to be cast only for their star-power. Also, while my young teenaged daughters enjoyed the whole movie, the smaller children opinion that the sections encompassing the human fancy epic were a bit long. But when the movie focused on the true “faerie narrative” it was truly enthralling for all fervent. The immense majority of the acting was estimable, the musical find was inviting, the special effects were very well done, and the entire experience was extremely delectable. I highly recommend this movie for anyone who ever had a romantic bone in their body, ever loved a fairy epic, or ever dreamed of Ireland.
I couldn’t beleive two of the negative reviews I saw posted, but was heartened to peek the rest were overwhelmingly definite. They should be. This is a fine, tender, comical bit of fantasy. The acting is pleasant, the special effects are some of the best I have ever seen, and the director shows a deft hand in presenting a noble script. It is a movie that lingers with you long after you glimpse it, and you often wish there were such a land. Well, there is, and you can visit it every time you inspect this movie. Thanks for making this type of movie and for the astounding job you did on it. Don’t let the snobs and other nay-sayers discourage you. The titanic majority of us loved it and want more! I’m buying the film because it is a five star work of art.
